Boen Tek Bio

Speaking of Boen Tek Bio Temple, it has a history of how Chinese people arrived in Tangerang. Boen Tek Bio was built from 1750. The Chinese built this temple by charity and name the temple Boen Tek Bio. Boen means Knowledge, Tek means Wisdom, and Bio means a place to pray. At first this temple only made from bamboo with sago palm as its roof. Until the 19th century where the economy of Tangerang became better and the temple already has so many followers, the Temple was renovated until now.

 Chio Tau

Chio Tau
In addition to the tourist attractions and culinary above, Tangerang has a unique culture What is called Chio Tau is nothing but a procession of a traditional Chinese Peranakan wedding ceremony.
Wedding procession is generally not no longer done by modern couples, as the shift of culture, limitations of cost, environment, and so forth. Who still maintains the tradition of the wedding ceremony of Chio Tau is a peranakan Chinese in the area of Tangerang and Bekasi, especially among the old peranakan community. Even in mainland China, it is said that these rituals are extinct.

In Indonesia, Chio Tau is also an art and culture of ethnic Chinese assimilation in this country. This traditional wedding dress has a characteristic form of the use of head makeup and dozens of skewers, green deeds, and red cloth patterned with gold embroidered for the bride. The proof of the process of cultural assimilation is the use of a flowering flower condiment powder, which is absorbed from Betawi culture.              The unique part of this wedding ritual is on the wedding dress. The bride will be assisted by a makeup and a kenek (makeup maid) who prepares the offerings until the whole series of events is completed. The ceremony begins with the two women's parents led by a makeup artist, praying in front of Sam Kay's table (the offering table) to beg the blessing of the Creator. After that the prayers continued in the house, in front of the ancestral table. When finished, then veil attached to the bride before he was picked up the groom and his family.
